Updates to Lists

Lists now work as saved filters. Lists now auto-update based on criteria, while the old model of a static list use labels. Smart, flexible, and always up-to-date.

A "dynamic" list is a group of individuals, companies or deals that update automatically based on filter criteria. This means you can create lists without having to manually add people one by one. Some people call these audiences, or segments, but here at Clarify these are just lists.

New lists that stay up to date

  • Lists now function as saved filters rather than manual collections.
  • Records automatically appear and disappear from lists when they match or no longer match criteria.
  • Users define conditions (like having certain labels, field values, etc.) instead of manually adding records.
  • This creates "smart lists" that stay current without manual maintenance.
  • For example, if you create a person object dynamic list where the filter is location contains "new york", this will create a group of people that is constantly updating when somebody's location contains "new york."
Previously filters would filter people on a static list. Now they will create filter criteria by which all people who meet the crtiera will be added to the list. This means this list is always updated as people match the criteria.

Changes to static lists

  • The concept of a static list, where you manually add records one by one, has been converted to a label-based system.
  • You can still create a list of people by adding the new reserved Clarify field “Label” to any record.
  • Lists moved from the sidebar to a dropdown menu at the top of each object view.
  • Old lists were migrated as "[listname]-all" or "[listname]-[viewname]".
  • Views have been deprecated from the product. Now everything is just a list or a label!

Navigation and UI changes

  • Lists are now accessed through a dropdown menu at the top of each object view instead of the sidebar.
You can access lists through the top menu bar.
  • The sidebar no longer has expands or collapses options for lists.
  • You can still favorite lists, which will appear in favorites on the left hand menu bar.
  • All list actions (creation, management) are now in the top menu, but you can also access creating a list with CMD + K.
You can create lists anywhere by using CMD K + Add List.

List functionality

  • Lists can be renamed, have emojis added, and be favorited/unfavorited.
  • You have full control over all lists, including the migrated static lists.
  • Lists can be sorted, renamed, and customized as before and you can do this through the top menu bar.
You can edit and manage lists using the top menu bar within a list.

Label system

  • Former static lists are now represented as labels on the person object.
  • Labels can be filtered (contains, is, etc.), so if you want to create a static list just simply add a label to some or all of the people you want!
  • Labels can be edited from the settings menu or directly from fields.
  • Labels can be color-coded.
  • Recap: List membership now controlled by either ...
    • Modifying the filters on the list (dynamic!)
    • Add or remove a Label (static!)
You can create what was a static list using the Labels feature.
