Live transcripts

Follow a meeting's conversation in text while the call is still running.

Written by Clarify Engineer

Follow what's being said in a meeting without waiting for the recording to finish. While the Notetaker or the desktop app is capturing a call, Clarify transcribes it on the meeting record as people speak.

Live transcripts is in beta and rolling out to more workspaces.

Open the live transcript

  1. Start capturing the meeting - let the Notetaker join the call, or start recording in the desktop app.

  2. Open the meeting's record in Clarify.

  3. Click the Transcript tab in the sidebar.

The tab appears once capture has started. It doesn't open by itself if you already had the sidebar open, so click it.

Each line may appear as a rough version first, then update to a final version once the speaker finishes. Use Search at the top of the tab to find a word or a speaker.

Ask Rep about a meeting in progress

Ask Rep about the meeting while it's still running - for example, "what has the customer said about pricing so far?" Rep answers from what has been transcribed up to that point. If nothing has been captured yet, Rep tells you.

Who can see it

Anyone who can open the meeting record can follow its live transcript, whether the Notetaker or someone's desktop app is capturing the call. Anyone who can't open the meeting doesn't see the tab.

After the meeting ends

The live transcript is temporary. After the meeting ends, the Transcript tab goes away the next time the page loads. The full transcript is available with the finished recording on the meeting page.

Troubleshooting

The Transcript tab doesn't appear

  • Capture hasn't started. The tab shows once the Notetaker has joined or the desktop recording has started. Wait a moment after it joins.

  • Your workspace doesn't have live transcripts yet. The feature is in beta and still rolling out.

  • You can't access the meeting. Only people who can open the meeting record see the tab.

The tab only says "Waiting for speech..."

Nobody has spoken yet, or the connection is briefly paused. Occasionally live text doesn't come through for a call at all. The meeting still records, and the full transcript arrives with the finished recording.

"Recording is processing..."

The desktop app is still uploading the recording. Live text resumes once the upload catches up.

"The transcript stopped updating."

The connection dropped. It usually recovers on its own. If it doesn't, refresh the page. The recording isn't affected, only the live text.

Speaker names look different from my contacts

Names on each line come from the call platform, not from your Clarify records.
