Record and transcribe meetings in any language — Clarify detects the spoken language automatically and transcribes accordingly. No configuration required.
The bot recorder and local recorder both support multi-language transcription, but with different plan requirements and language coverage.
Bot recorder
Multi-language transcription for the bot recorder is available on Growth plan workspaces. On Free, Starter, and Teams plans, the bot falls back to meeting platform captions, which default to English — non-English meetings will transcribe in English or produce garbled output.
On Growth, the bot detects spoken language automatically using Clarify's transcription engine. No settings to configure.
Supported: 38+ languages, including major European, Asian, and Latin American languages.
ℹ️ Language detection is locked when the meeting is scheduled, not when it starts. Meetings already on your calendar before upgrading to Growth will pick up multi-language transcription from their next occurrence.
Local recorder
Multi-language transcription for the local recorder is available on all plans.
Six languages are supported, detected automatically from your audio:
English
Spanish
French
German
Italian
Portuguese
No settings to configure. Meeting summaries are generated in the detected language.
What to expect from non-English meetings
Transcripts are captured in the language as spoken.
Summaries are generated in the meeting language.
Search works across non-English transcripts using standard Clarify search.
AI queries work across languages. Ask about a Spanish meeting in English and get an English response. Ask in the meeting language and get a response in that language.
Limitations
Bot recorder multi-language requires Growth. Free, Starter, and Teams workspaces transcribe in English only.
Local recorder supports 6 languages. Meetings in other languages will still produce a transcript, but accuracy may be lower.
The Clarify interface is English-only. Menus, labels, and settings are not localized.
Troubleshooting
Bot not transcribing in the correct language
Language settings are locked when a meeting is first scheduled by Clarify. If settings changed after scheduling (e.g., you recently upgraded to Growth), pending meetings may use outdated transcription config.
Fix: Go to Settings → Email and meetings → Call recording and toggle the background image setting on, then back off. This forces Clarify to push updated settings to all pending scheduled recordings.
